Meet Shawna Schwaninger

Birmingham Interim Lead Pastor

We’re so grateful you’ve found us. Our hope is that from the moment you connect with our campus, you feel genuinely welcomed and discover a place where you truly belong. We’re a community of people learning and growing together—discovering more about Jesus and what it means to live in the reality that we are fully known and fully loved by Him. No matter where you’re coming from or where you are in your journey, there’s a place for you here.

I’m Shawna, and I’m the Interim Lead Pastor of the Birmingham campus. My husband, Ryan, and I have been married for 25 years and have two boys. As a family, we love snowboarding, hiking, and finding any excuse for a new adventure. More than anything, we’re passionate about Jesus and seeing people experience His love and the life-changing transformation that comes through Him.

CURRENT SERIES

This summer, we’re turning to one of the most relatable books of the Bible to discover truth for the emotions and challenges we all face.

Psalm 46:1-3 – This passage talks about God being our fortress, refuge, strength in the time of trouble/chaos/turmoil. The images in this passage symbolize overwhelming chaos, uncertainty, and circumstances that feel completely out of control. Yet the key message is that believers do not need to fear—even when the world seems unstable—because God remains steady and sovereign.

We are grateful for you and your decision to be a part of the Hope Water Project community! Together, we can change lives!

We are here to support you and encourage you through the process; whether you are a walker, a runner, a cyclist, a volunteer or “outside the box” fundraiser – you are moving out and we appreciate
you!

YOU are changing lives! As a team, we come together to train, to volunteer and to support and encourage one another. We participate in events through the year and we raise awareness of the need for clean water. Your fundraising helps to build wells that impact the lives of the Pokot.

So your next step depends on what you want to do and how you want to step out!

A great first step is to join our mailing list to stay up to date on all our events and opportunities to jump in!

Navajo Nation

House of Joy is Kensington’s newest Global Partner located in Black Mesa, Arizona near Kayenta on the Navajo Nation Reservation. Pastor JR founded the House of Joy and serves the Diné  people (pronounced Di-Nay in the Navajo language and means “the people”) both locally on Black Mesa and throughout the reservation. Pastor JR is leading a movement and seeing lives transformed through his church, the food bank, and service projects completed in partnership with visiting mission teams.
