Orion Campus Middle School Director

Position Description:

This person is responsible to create authentic community for every student to be transformed and mobilized by Jesus.  In addition, this role assists parents in building community and support with other like-minded parents to create God-centered families across Kensington.

Demonstrate the qualities of a follower of Jesus Christ, with a passion to love God, live in community with those in the Body of Christ and extend the love of God to those seeking Him.  Show a strong commitment to living out Kensington’s values in his/her Christian life.

Qualifications:

  • Competence:  Undergraduate degree in related field preferred.  Training in Leadership and management helpful. Proven ability to lead and develop leaders, build teams, and cast vision for a high impact church.
  • Chemistry: Has an affinity with Kensington Leadership and vision.
  • Character: Teachability, humility, moral/ethical integrity, the desire to grow spiritually.
  • Calling: Expresses and has confirmation of a desire and call to lead in full time ministry at KC. Affirmation of the mission, values and beliefs of Kensington.
  • Requirements:  Membership at Kensington Community Church. Loves working with students.

Responsibilities:

Overseer of the Breakaway (Middle School) Ministry at the Orion campus: Create a weekly gathering that is attractional for students in 6th-8th grade at the Orion campus. Using Orange curriculum, refine series and content in collaboration with other Student Ministry leaders. Create and implement discipleship pathway for Breakaway (Middle School) students.
Work alongside OSM staff to create regular serving opportunities for middle school students. Communicate with and assist OSM Groups Director to ensure a consistent, healthy environment for middle school small group leaders. Create  attractional local events throughout the year to connect outside of weekly gatherings.

Weekly Gathering Responsibilities: Train, Develop, and lead a teaching team capable of engaging and effectively communicating God’s truth to middle-schoolers in a fun, applicable way. Oversee the set-up and tear-down process for weekly Student Ministries gatherings at the Orion Campus. Build a Student Leadership Team in Breakaway, empowering middle school students to participate in leading in weekly gatherings in various ways throughout the year.
Be present with students during hang-out/connect time at weekly gatherings.

Outreach Champion: Create and oversee serving opportunities for Orion Student Ministries and manage relationships with partners at those programs/locations. Communicate with groups director to help promote opportunities. Create and maintain school presence opportunities alongside OSM staff.

Full participant on Orion Student Ministries Staff team:  Attend and participate in weekly Orion Student Ministries meetings and bi-weekly DRs.
Implement OSM vision at the Breakaway (Middle School) level
Work to create and maintain unity and family between Edge (High School) and Breakaway (Middle School) staff. Assist with other OSM projects as directed by OSM director

KC Central Student Responsibilities: Attend and participate in KC Central Student meetings. Participate in leadership and planning of KC Central Student events and trips.

Develop meaningful relationships with students, leaders, parents and attenders at Orion Campus.

Campus Responsibilities:  Attend Orion Campus meetings, KC Central student meetings and KC All Staff meetings. As per the direction of the OSM director, join the Orion Campus team with campus wide projects, events, services as needed.
