Birmingham Campus Student Ministries Director  

Description

This person is responsible to create a genuine biblical community to see every student transformed and mobilized by Jesus. Engaging the broader Birmingham community for leadership and engagement. Work in partnership with the Campus Lead Pastor on some targeted donor development.

Position Requirements

Qualifications

  • Competence:  Undergraduate degree in related field preferred.  Training in Leadership and management helpful. Proven ability to lead and develop leaders, build teams, and cast vision for a high impact church.
  • Chemistry: Has an affinity with Kensington Leadership and vision.
  • Character: Teachability, humility, moral/ethical integrity, the desire to grow spiritually.
  • Calling: Expresses and has confirmation of a desire and call to lead in full time ministry at KCC. Affirmation of the mission, values and beliefs of Kensington.
  • Requirements:  Membership at Kensington Community Church.

Responsibilities

  • Main communicator for Student Ministries.
  • Train and Develop New Communicators.
  • Develop & Implement series and content for Middle and High School
  • Program the large group gathering for Student Ministries
  • Lead process for creating an attractional gathering for Middle and High School including environment and program that attracts the seeker and brings growth to the already devoted follower of Christ.
  • Develop and Implement systems and processes to support gatherings with volunteer development.
  • Lead Student Ministries Staff.
  • Lead weekly team meetings.
  • Establish DR’s with potential staff and interns.
  • Engage in staff development.
  • Performance evaluations and alignment.
  • Oversight of Student Ministry budgets.
  • Build community between Edge, Breakaway staff
  • Oversee and lead ministry planning and vision
  • Align with KCC Central Students
  • Implement KCC vision within the Student Ministries.
  • Attend weekly campus meetings, KCC central meetings for Student Ministry and KCC All Staff meetings.
  • Develop and work towards a stronger family engagement strategy in partnership with Kensington Kids.
  • Engage in local and global opportunities (including move out teams and global short term trips)
  • Develop meaningful relationships with students, leaders, parents and attenders at KC Birmingham Campus.
  • Assist the Ministry Director and Lead Pastor with campus wide projects, events, services as needed.
  • Ongoing personal and leadership development.

Demonstrate the qualities of a follower of Jesus Christ, with a passion to love God, live in community with those in the Body of Christ and extend the love of God to those seeking Him.  Show a strong commitment to living out Kensington’s values in his/her Christian life. Show a strong commitment to living out Kensington’s values: Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose, and Make a Difference.

Navajo Nation

House of Joy is Kensington’s newest Global Partner located in Black Mesa, Arizona near Kayenta on the Navajo Nation Reservation. Pastor JR founded the House of Joy and serves the Diné  people (pronounced Di-Nay in the Navajo language and means “the people”) both locally on Black Mesa and throughout the reservation. Pastor JR is leading a movement and seeing lives transformed through his church, the food bank, and service projects completed in partnership with visiting mission teams.
