Come and See His Words, His Ways, His Works.

With the start of the ministry/school year, I want to set before our whole church community a vision for the coming year, a God-given direction to hold before us on our faith journey.

When Philip first encountered Jesus, his response was immediate and personal. He found his friend Nathanael and simply said, “Come and see” (John 1:46). These three words carry profound invitation—not just to witness something remarkable, but to experience transformation firsthand. This year, our church family embarks on an extraordinary journey under the theme “Come and See,” where we’ll dive deep into discovering and encountering Jesus through his Words, Ways, and Works. “Come and See” isn’t just our theme—it’s our invitation to encounter Jesus in fresh, life-changing ways.

So much to look forward to!

Throughout the year, teaching series will bring Jesus’ timeless truths into sharp focus, addressing real-life challenges with biblical wisdom and practical application. Here are some of the series to look forward to:

  • Come and See | September 7 | Fall Launch – Don’t miss this weekend! We have Wei and Kuna Yu sharing and playing from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
  • Close Encounters of the Jesus Kind – In the bible, who encountered Jesus, and what did they say about him?
  • Come and See: Advent at Kensington – This will be a invitational series for you to invite family and friends culminating in our  incredible Christmas services.
  • The Great I Am – In John’s gospel Jesus makes seven “I Am” statements about himself. What does he say, and what does it reveal about Himself and why does it matter for us today?
  • The People Mover – Jesus still moves in people’s lives speaking, healing, delivering, guiding. How do we experience the life changing work of Jesus in our lives today?

This year also brings unprecedented opportunities for growth and connection. Our church-wide small group relaunch in February will create intimate spaces where the “Come and See” theme comes alive through authentic relationships and biblical study. These groups will serve as the backbone of our spiritual formation, allowing every person to engage deeply with Jesus’ words, ways, and works. Begin to consider now if you can lead or host a group – we are going to ask!

Another aspect of our “Come and See” year will be the introduction of an All-Church Event on March 15, focused on celebrating the great things God is doing locally and globally through Kensington Church. This special gathering will highlight the incredible ways our church family is making a difference locally and globally through missional service, demonstrating how Jesus’ love extends beyond our walls. It’s a chance to witness firsthand how God is working through our collective efforts to reach that one person, that one community, that one corner of the world that desperately needs hope.

We also have worship nights, prayer initiatives, youth and kids events, an “Ask Anything” event with Abdu Murray, our Hope Water 5K, and countless other opportunities for us to “Come and See” Jesus together.

You’re Invited!

“Come and See” isn’t just about what we’ll do together—it’s about what God wants to do in and through you. This year offers phenomenal opportunities to grow deeper in faith, connect more meaningfully with others, and participate in God’s mission in ways that will surprise and delight you.

Whether you’re taking your first steps of faith or you’ve walked with Jesus for decades, this year holds something special for you. Come and see what God has in store. Come and see how his Words can reshape your perspective, how his Ways can redirect your path, and how his Works can change your life in extraordinary ways.

The invitation is extended. The journey begins now: COME AND SEE.
