Baptism is an important part of our faith journey. If you are ready to take the next step in your faith journey by publicly proclaiming your commitment to following Jesus, read through the steps below.
Please read Baptism 101, a tool designed to help you understand the significance of baptism and help determine if you are ready to be baptized. Baptism doesn’t make you a Jesus-follower, it simply shows that you are a Jesus-follower. Baptism does not save you, only your faith in Jesus does that.
Select your campus below to register for the next baptism class. During the 1-hour class you will watch and discuss a baptism video and write your faith story. You will be scheduled for baptism upon completion of the baptism class.

Baptism for Elementary Students: Students in kindergarten – grade 5 participate in a different baptism process. Please see the “Elementary Kids Baptism” section below.
Child Dedication: Child Dedication is for infants and older children. This service is done publicly before family, friends, and our church community in demonstration of our collective commitment to raise this child up to know Jesus. Please see information about the Child Dedication class below.
When you understand the meaning, significance, and steps involved in baptism as a public expression of your faith in Jesus Christ, you are ready to schedule your baptism day! You will receive specific info from the baptism team. Don’t forget to invite friends and family to witness your baptism – it will make it more special!
NOTE: Families are welcome to be baptized together, but as baptism is an important personal decision, we recommend ages 12+ attend the baptism class with their family and children 10 and younger follow the process noted below under “Elementary Kids”.
If you have any questions about this process or anything else, please email us to start a conversation.
Do you have a child in K–grade 5 (aged 11 and under) who wants to be baptized? Your first step is to assess their spiritual readiness. Second, contact the Kensington Kids (Kkids) Director at your campus for readiness guidelines and with any other questions by selecting your location below.
Here at Kensington we believe that dedicating your child is an outward expression of an inward decision by parents to say:
“I want to raise my child in a family who knows, follows, and is centered around Jesus. I recognize this child is a gift from God and I want to dedicate this child back to God.”
Kensington offers a beautiful Dedication Service for children, as soon after birth as the parents desire. The service is done publicly before family, friends, and our church community in demonstration of our collective commitment to raise this child up to know Jesus.
Baptism is the outward expression of the inner work God has done in someone’s life. It’s the public declaration that says, “I am God’s, He has saved me, He is transforming me, and I am committed to following Him.” We ask that you attend a baptism class – if possible – prior to signing up.
This is public moment before family, friends, and our church community for parents to recognize their child is God’s first and to commit to raising this child up to know Jesus. We ask that you attend a Child Dedication class first.
We offer baptism to those old enough to make a personal decision to follow Jesus – adolescents, adults, and sometimes elementary-aged children that are ready. We offer dedication to the parent(s) of an infant or young child – this is not the child’s commitment to follow Jesus, but the parents’ commitment to raise the child to know about Jesus and to be an example of faith in Him.
No, baptism does not mean someone is saved, but baptism is a response tosalvation. We see the example of baptism repeatedly in the Bible, and likewise, we take this step of obedience to honor God and to share with others what He is doing within us.
Yes. If you have now personally experienced the transforming work of Jesus, choosing baptism with a full understanding is a meaningful step in your faith journey.
For baptisms, we usually submerge fully because it symbolizes the death of the old self and the rising up of the new person in Jesus! But, we can also sprinkle to baptize individuals who need an alternative. We do not do either during child dedications. Instead, we focus on verbal commitments from parents and the community to instruct in the ways of Jesus and to lead by example.
At our baptism events, we usually have a Teaching Pastor or other staff member doing baptisms. Sometimes those being baptized will also ask a friend, mentor, or small group leader who has been instrumental in their faith journey to be the one to baptize them. And, if you can’t wait for our next baptism, a follower of Jesus can baptize you in your own home – here are some guidelines for a do-it-yourself baptism.
