Two Ways to Make an Impact

Whatever your interest or skills, you can change lives right here in Metro Detroit. There are basically two ways: 1) To help someone DIRECTLY, sign up at "TheCommon.org" below. It’s a web tool that connects people with needs to people with abilities. 2) To help someone through an ORGANIZATION, check out the "Ongoing Opportunities" below. It’s a list of established agencies you can team up with in serving our community.

Adopt-A-School

We’re partnering with local public schools! Volunteers mentor kids, teach reading, help teachers, serve parents, and impact neighborhoods.

Global Reach

One of our core values is to love God and others. Even if those "others" are in India, Africa, or Palestine. In today's ever-shrinking world, our ability to reach out is greater than ever. And so are the needs. So get outside your comfort-zone and experience God in a whole new way on a short-term mission trip. Domestic or international. No experience required! Whatever your interest or skill level, everybody's encouraged to apply.

Reverse New York is a special trip designed at racial reconciliation for the kingdom of God. Our world is becoming more and more diverse, and and the need to learn to be with and minister to people of all ethnicitiies has never been higher. Students on this trip will come on an application only basis, and must have a strong desire for racial reconciliation.

The trip will be co-led by Shacha Nall, who is a devout Christian and consultant for major corporation and organizations on the issue of racial reconciliation. Students will be actively trained by her on a daily basis, and will dive deeply into the history of racial injustice as well as learning the current stories of what is happening in the lives of their peers.

We are looking for a maximum of 15 students and five leaders. There will be students and leaders of multiple ethnicities and cultural backgrounds on this trip.

A typical day will include reconciliation trainings (that students will be able to take into their daily lives and schools), devotions, time to get to know each other, understanding cultural identity and Christian identity, serving in NYC (homeless shelters, kitchens, etc), and meeting with major NYC faith leaders (like Craig Mayes of the NYC Rescue Mission).

This two week trip requires a great deal of commitment. For several months prior to the trip the team is actively involved in cultural training, medication collection and organization. During the two week trip the team conducts 5 clinics in three locations serving approximately 900 men, women and children. Medical care is provided on a very basic level. The focus of our trip is not necessarily to heal bodies, but rather to show Jesus' love in a tangible way. During the two weeks the team also participates in Sunday services leading Sunday School classes, attends after-school Bible classes, visits the Indian Ocean, spends a day at a nearby game park, and takes every opportunity to do life with the people of eSikhawini
