Each Kensington campus is partnering with one local school - pouring in volunteer labor, resources, and love. Volunteers can help during school, after school, or in the surrounding neighborhoods. Whatever your skill or passion, there are lots of ways to serve students, teachers, and parents. By changing the life of child, you can impact the future of an entire region. Troy Campus

Troy is focusing on Hiller Elementary in Madison Heights.

Volunteer opportunities now include:

  • New ESL Program - On January 31st, we'll be launching English Classes for families of Hiller students. Many of these families are refugees and do not speak the English language well. Classes will be on Thursdays from 4-6 for an 8 week block. Many opportunities to serve with kids, hospitality, and adults. Please email Alli Mountney at the email address below if interested!
  • Classroom Aide - Assist a teacher in the classroom working with individual students or small groups
  • Special Events - Help at various events put on by the school and/or Kensington for students and families

Clinton Township Campus

Clinton is focusing on King Academy in Mount Clemens.

Martin Luther King Jr. Academy

This partnership is in its early stages, future needs will include:

  • New Enrichment Program - We're looking for anyone with a specific skill or talent that might be willing to share with a group on a Saturday morning at King Academy. If you can dance, sing, paint, build cars, juggle a soccer ball, or anything of the like, we are looking for YOU! We want to offer classes on Saturday mornings for the students and families of King Academy as many of the enrichments at the schools have been cut, and those through the community are too expensive.   • Classroom Aide - Assist a teacher in the classroom working with individual students or small groups
  • Media Center Specialist - Help organize and run the media center
  • Mentor - Volunteer to work with 1-4 students after school or on the weekend
  • Special Events - Help at various events put on by the schools and/or Kensington for students and families

Orion Campus

Orion is focusing on Rogers Elementary in Pontiac.

Volunteer opportunities now include:

  • Classroom Aide - Assist a teacher in the classroom working with individual students or small groups
  • Mentor - Mondays afterschool 3-4:30pm; be assigned to 1-2 students to help with homework, read books, play games
  • Sports Clinics - Get kids off "screens" after school & into playing a sport. Coach a team of students for a season - teaching game basics & teamwork
  • Extra-Curricular Clubs - Work with a team of kids that aren’t offered enrichments. Examples include chess, Legos, art, music, etc.
  • Home Repairs - Help families of our school partners with yard work or minor repairs
  • Special Events - Help at various events put on by the schools and/or Kensington for students and families

Birmingham Campus

Birmingham is focusing on Stevenson Elementary in Southfield.

Volunteer opportunities now include:

  • Classroom Aide - Assist a teacher in the classroom working with individual students or small groups
  • Lunch-Time Reader - Read with a student on your lunch break
  • After-School Tutor - Tutor individual student or small groups from 4-5pm on Tues or Thurs
  • Special Events - Help at various events put on by the schools and/or Kensington for students and families
  • Basketball - Have fun assisting PE teacher with afterschool program on Wednesdays 4-5:30
  • Girls Only Mentor Program - Women and High School Girls, pour into 5th grade girls for 5 weeks 4-5:30. Day to be determined
