How To Know God

Salvation: Don't leave earth without it.

To some, sipping a caramel mocha latte is paradise. But unlike Starbucks, the real heaven is totally free. And it's available right now. Receiving it is as simple as believing with all your heart that Jesus is the Son of God, that he died in your place, and that he rose from the dead. Then, by personally accepting his invitation, you surrender your life to his leadership.

Ready for some good news?

All of us make bad choices at some time or another. Big or small, these "sins" separate us from God, who is perfect. And like it or not, we deserve to be punished. But the Bible says that by voluntarily dying on the cross, Jesus Christ has already paid the penalty for our sins. That means anyone who accepts his free gift of salvation can be totally forgiven and re-united with God forever.

"For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it." - (John 3:16, 17)

What you do now counts forever.

If you're ready to become a follower of Jesus, pray something like this in your own words...

"Dear God, I know that I'm a sinner and that I cannot save myself. But I believe you loved me enough to send Jesus to die on the cross for my mistakes and that you raised him from the dead. Right here and now, I ask you to forgive my sins, come into my heart, and take over my life. Be the manager of everything I think and say and do from now on. Thank you."

"For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it's by believing in his heart that a man becomes right with God, and with his mouth he tells others about his faith." - (Romans 10:9, 10)

If you've decided to trust Jesus with your life, congratulations, and welcome to God's family. To grow in your new relationship, have daily conversations with God (prayer), study his plan for your life (the Bible), and hook up with other believers (at a local church like Kensington).

This is so not a Tupperware party.

We offer hundreds of informal groups that meet in area homes. But instead of talking about little plastic tubs, people can ask questions about God and issues that matter most in a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere. In a "small group" you can be yourself, express your opinions, and learn along with other folks looking for answers. To find a group meeting in your area, click here.
